Getting Max Polycount...

Hi, Does anyone know how to get the max polycount or if there is a genral max count if so wat is it.

Also i was wonderin if admins can change my tag cause some dipsh*t changed mine.

you could loop through all your nodes and count up the polycount of the meshes used for the nodes.

alternatively there's a function, probably in IVideoDriver which returns you the number of polys sent to the gfx card, but that doesn't sound like what you're after.

thanks JP ill hav a look at the API now, soz for not bein clear im tryin to know wat the max polycount is for my game, not the polycount that is being used.

The signature you used the last days was offensive and I also found it rather annoying. I thought already about removing it myself and should probably have done that, but seems someone was faster. In short - avoid language in this forum which you wouldn't also use when talking to strangers offline.

In addition to being offensive it also contained a bad programming practice - you used an assignment operator within an if clause - though we usually don't correct that ;-)

It was me, in case anyone missed it I changed it to this:

if (expression = assignment)
icantprogram = true;

I figured it's much better to have a reasonably funny signature which is offensive to one person, than an unfunny one which is offensive to 50% of the world.
If you think that childish and offensive behaviour is okay then it's only fair that the same rules apply to moderation.

To answer your question, the only maximum number of polygons is the maximum you can draw in one call, see IVideoDriver::getMaximalPrimitiveCount. There is no maximum for a scene, you have to find the balance of how much time you can afford to spend rendering the scene.
