IrrForge is online, Eve-Corp being retired.

Post by saigumi »

I've been having issues with the amount of usage that Eve-Corp recieves and getting the project management applications to work and stay working.

A few weeks ago, I began working on IrrForge (http://irrforge.org). This isn't just some wimpy script running on top of a webserver. It is a fully functional SourceForge clone (the application being used is GForge).

Over the next week, I am moving the content from Eve-Corp to IrrForge but you can help me simplify the process by logging into Irrforge and registering a new project, I will handle the rest.

I will try to notify all the current project managers, but after two weeks, I will be moving all the content on Eve-Corp to IrrForge so that it is at least readable.

Now, what does Irrforge give you that Eve-Corp didn't?
  • A CVS repository (public or private)
A Sourceforge-style project system that actually works and is stable
    Mailing Lists
    Automated local building
I believe I have tested the whole system, but if you encounter any problems, let me know.[/list]

Two problems:

1. What is going to happen to the old webname when you close it? Will a redirection to IrrForge appear? I say this because a few users on my site have asked me if the URL will just come up with a 404 which could be very annoying.

2. When I tried to complete the reg, but it came up with a

Access denied
Credentials you entered do not correspond to valid account.

It's definatly not the wrong password or username, I tried deliberatly putting in the wrong username and password, it comes up with a different error.

1. I will put an automatic redirector in the old location.

2. Did you get the activation email and activate? I activated your "Tyn" login manually.

Cheers, yeah the error came up when I was trying to activate the account. It asked me to login and when I did it came up with the access denied screen. Dunno what happened there but thanks for sorting it.

Saigumi, I have the same problems like Tyn had, I can't confirm my reg, he say my pass and username are wrong.

Cool. I'll add a link to it on irrlicht.sf.net. Should I drop all references to eve-corp too?

Yep.. Eve-corp is gasping it's last breaths. I've started moving content over for those that registered so far. It's been slow as I'm fixing issues with the GForge server and manually performing tasks that could be automated.

All the eve-corp.com/{directory} links will soon be irrforge.org/{directory}

Eve Corp is now completely down before I got a chance to copy over ( work has been more on my mind over the last week or so ). Was everything saved and/or copied, including the SQL database?

It's not down for good.

It looks like all of my domains on that machine are down. (saigumi.net, pelpem.org, eve-corp.com). These are hosted by another company and I have no direct control over bringing it up, which is why I opted to pay for my whole on dedicated server for irrforge.org

I'm hoping that it will.

I just got this from my host of all of my webspaces (except Irrforge which is a complete Linux box that I'm paying for hosted at a colocation center in Chicago by a completely different company).

Now, I've been with Webdiggity for quite a few years now without any problems, and the support has been exceptional and I would highly recommend them if you need webhosting.

It looks like they just got a bum deal on the colocation center.

What this means is there is a chance that everything may be gone.

-------

Dear Webdiggity Customer's,

I am writing to explain the current situation with Webdiggity's
services at this time. I apologize for the late notice, I have been
scrambling for answers the past 24 hours and have finally recieved
some answers. They are not answers I'm happy with but as my loyal
customers, you deserve an explanation.

At 4:30pm yesterday, Webdiggity's servers went off line.
Investigation revealed that every server in my provider's datacenter
had been taken off line. Further investigation revealed that they had
been removed for failure to pay their bills for colocation of their
servers and bandwidth. As of this afternoon, I have not received and
explanation or their plans to get this situation resolved. This is
unacceptable to me. As you all may or may not know, I have given any
customer that needs my help with a problem 110% effort with 100%
resolution in nearly all cases.

I had maintained monthly backups on the 2nd drive on the server for
the past couple of months. However, this was not a precaution for
times when the server becomes unavailable. If the provider does not
come up with the funds to bring their account current, we may never
see this data again.

When our previous provider did not provide reliable services for my
customers, I researched the hosts out there and arrived at this one.
They had excellent reviews in reliability, customer service and
support. For 3 months the server has performed flawlessly. I have no
doubt that it would be functioning flawlessly now had they paid their
bills.

In the next 24 hours, I am searching for yet another provider. In the
event our servers are not back on line in the next 24 hours, I will
secure another provider and start issuing you passwords and accounts
based on hard copy records I have of the domains. There is nothing
you need to do with your domains as they are still pointed at my name
servers. I will simply have to change some settings with our
registrar.

What I am asking for from you is a little patience during this time.
I understand that is a hard thing to do. If you can somehow give me a
little time to get Webdiggity Hosting Solutions back up and running I
would greatly appreciate it. If this is unacceptable to you, please
accept my sincerest apology and I wish you luck with your future
hosts/endeavors.

Please add this address to your records and use it for all emergency
correspondence.

Again, I'm sorry this has happened but as you can see, this is
entirely out of my hands but given time, I can set things right.

Thank you in advance,
Matt Gatten
