Is my processor upgradeable?

I have an Intel Core 2 duo processor. And I was wondering if any one knows if it will be upgradeable down the line? Because if I have a core 2 duo, then a core 2 quad would be a possibility right? Don't they share the same socket type? And what about a core i7?

Core 2 Duo and Core 2 Quad both use the LGA 775 socket type, Core i7 uses LGA 1156 socket type. NewEgg is your friend.
