I quit. (Eve-corp, IrrForge, etc...)

Post by saigumi »

Today, I pretty much lost the rest of everything.

Both my hosts have cancelled my contracts for the same reason.

One of the projects I hosted on Eve-Corp and moved to irrforge used an older version of my_eGallery that had a vulnerability that allowed a complete takeover of both machines.

This was too much of a liability and since we had just gone through so much problems with the host that Eve-Corp is on, and since it was the second successful hack on the box. We decided it was best for me not to have any third party content on the server.

Then, the dedicated server location for irrforge threw me a curveball an hour later as the content I had moved over from Eve-Corp had the same vulnerability and bad files that were installed on it. Due to this, the machine was locked. They charge a very large fee to "fix" a compromised system by wiping the entire thing and letting you start over from scratch. I can't afford to pay the fee as I had just got done paying for the machine setup cost so the contract is being closed.

I appologize for all the problems and should be able to email people copies of their project's folders content.
Crud, how do I do this again?

too bad :(
You do a lot of programming? Really? I try to get some in, but the debugging keeps me pretty busy.

That was probably mine since you installed the other two versions on there. Crap, didn't even know there was a vunerability in there. Sorry if that was mine. Shame about it going.

I can move to take up some ov the slack... if there are any eve-corp / irr-forge projects that need a home, talk to me and i'll see about setting something off ov xhrit.com. my application service provider / content management system is not as sophisticated as some ov the stuff on eve-corp but the major functionality is there, and it is ready now...

tyn might not mind - i made a 2080 site a few months back to host the concepts i did for the project. moving a few variables around to change ownership and uploading some stuff wouldn't be too hard.

Wow, that's bad. Sorry for you saigumi. It's not easy to do all the work like you did and not to get back a lot. And it's getting worse when people start to hamper and frustrate you. I think I can fully understand you.
Thanks for all your work, you did really a great job.

Cheers m8 but I've got a temporary home on Sourceforge until I can get a server, so hopefully you can use the space to help another Eve-Corp refugee :) I'll give out the new address when I sort it out.

I hope others can too find some webspace to host their projects on.

Heya Saigumi,

Unfortunately, I'm very new to Irrlicht, and never got to see any of your tutorials.

Could I ask you to, perhaps, put some of them on the Irrlicht forums?

Saigumi, at least you managed to get the files - that would have sucked all the more. I hope that it was not too costly a venture.

Tyn - you will have to post a link to that.
