irrExt - is there a summary somewhere?

Post by Linkin Puck »

My Google-fu is weak, I can't find any summary of what's in IrrExt. The Sourceforge page doesn't seem to be helpful.

Am I missing something obvious?

irrExt is another project which was abandoned but I took over. It doesn't have any file releases but has lots of cool extensions:

GUI:
Klasker's extended text
Klasker's GUI image skin

FileSystem:
My ICO/CUR loader (I didn't add my windows exe loader yet)

Scene:
My batching mesh buffer, for combining many meshes together for performance.
CTM, LMO, MSTS, N2, OFF, PLY (alternative implementation), SMF and FBX mesh loaders.
An example scene loader and interface, for supporting many scene loading formats.
BrittleNode, BeamSceneNode, CloudSceneNode, GrassPatchSceneNode, LensFlare, RTTSkyboxSceneNode, RibbonTrailSceneNode, MarioKartBillboardNodes (and particle systems) and TreeSceneNode
B-spline, Look-at, Newton and ScaleNode animators.

Video:
DDS and HDRI image loaders

Other stuff:
DK's new particle affectors

If anyone has cool things they'd like to add, speak to someone on the project page:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/irrext/

We'll probably give you SVN access. IrrExt is also used as a bit of a proving ground for new Irrlicht developers, it's where we got Luke from anyway.

I did invite you to join us and include your patcher. Also it's not dead, just doesn't get updated as often as we'd like it to, and things from there often end up in Irrlicht too.

I guess this sentence can at least be interpreted in two ways, and maybe bitplane chose the one you did not intend?!
Anyway, my patch page was definitely there before you came up with your patch tool. Though I don't see a point here to discuss about historical dates. The question was about usability of the irrExt add-ons. And unfortunately we have to say that due to lack of interest there's not much going on to make these add-ons available more easily. Anyone volunteering for this job (or for adding more code snippets to the irrExt project, or for both) should contact bitplane or me immediately.

Thanks for taking the time to do the summary, Bitplane, that's exactly what I wanted.
