Octane render @ EU49 for 1 week!

Post by afecelis »

Hi guys,
This powerful gpgpu render engine is running a special promo to celebrate its new version supporting multigpu.

Since it uses obj as loading format (and soon collada), which Irrlicht supports, it should be great for those looking to enhance their rendering power.

Purchase link (you need to create a user in the forums to buy the license):

remember you must have an nvidia card that supports cuda.

This seems like it is meant for speeding-up non-real-time renders, not so much for real-time ones.

Yup indeed. Though the more power you add the more it turns into a realtime application, yet still for rendering purposes (not game-dev ones).
Render power can be added with a gpu-xpander:

Ah yes I heard about Octane a while ago, it seems they are gaining some popularity.

Yup, Radiance (octane's dev) is also from NZ, like Niko, the developer of Indigo (another render engine).

Everyone wonders why most render engine development comes either from New Zealand or from Spain (FryRender) ;)

I wonder if it's something in your diet :D

Yes I'm proud of Indigo renderer coming from New Zealand (Pretty sure his name is Nick, not Niko...maybe both?), I didn't know octane is too.

They are both mentioned a lot on http://www.ompf.org (Technical forum where people discuss ray tracing techniques).
