Exporting animated mesh via .X - What am I doing wrong?

Post by griffin2000 »

I'm trying to import an animated .X mesh from 3DS Max 2010 using the panda exporter (version x86_6.2010.71.0). I am totally failing to get any animations appear on my mesh when I view it in Irrilicht.

I've followed the instructions on various thread here (such as this one: http://irrlicht.sourceforge.net/phpBB2/ ... hp?t=35092 ) but still no joy.

When I import my model into IrrEdit and the result is show here:

I can see a skeleton drawn in debug lines, which is animated, but it is scaled and oriented wrong relative to the mesh. And when the skeleton animates the mesh does not animate.

Any ideas ? Thanks all.

Make sure you're parenting the armature to the mesh, or the mesh to the armature. I can never remember which.

Awesome, thanks! That works fine for me (I did have to flip the winding order check-box, other than that worked right out of the box).
