Best animated mesh format...

Post by griffin2000 »

I've had issues with all the available skinned, animated mesh formats in Irrlicht that can be exported from 3DS Max...

.X is what I'm mainly using, but both the available exporters (KW-export and Panda) have bugs. KW is the best but some animated meshes get screwed up, it appears that some verts are just not skinned:

Ogre meshes are meant to support animation but the ogre exporter I found (http://www.ogremax.com/) crashes Max when I install it (and is anyway just a demo version, the full one costs $250). Is there another one I should be using ?

B3D supports animation but I've failed to find a Max export for b3d that works with max 2010 or 2011. Is one available ?

Have I missed any formats that support skinning ? Which formats are everyone out there using ? Personally I am tempted to bite the bullet and just add animation support to the Collada reader.

Thanks all
