I am wanting to create a 2d game but do not know how to make mapas.Tem some program to create the maps in 2d?
I have more questions about a program in 2d: the example of 6 Irrlicht 2d grapichs I'm in doubt that phrase
Video: ITexture * images = driver-> getTexture ();
I am not able to understand what argument I use in
getTexture function ().
Thanks!
2D maps
You can create them in any way that works for you. For example you might read in a bitmap and use the pixel-colors as information. Or you might create an xml-file in which you encode the information. Or some other text-format which can look however you want. There are infinite ways to have data for a 2d game. You are the programmer - so it is your job to decide how your data formats have to look like.
And in getTexture you use the filename relative to the working-path of your application (mostly relative to your executable).
But please check also the FAQ in the beginner section before you start with Irrlicht. You have to know at least c++ to use it.

If your game is in 2d use a different library. While you can use irrlicht for 2d things, you'll run into limitations that just waste time.
Pygame might be best for you - anyone can pick up python quickly. Don't let the ugly looking tutorials put you off, pygame is a very solid library.
Love2d is nice, though lua isn't the nicest language I've written a blog post about pygame vs love2d.
try flixel or flash punk You can make game quickly, though most people discredit flash as 'noobish'

I don't think its noobish, it just doesn't work very well on alot of machines. Even on my current pc (i5 750 6gb ram) flash sometimes laggs the shizzle out of my compu. My previous computer... Let's not go there.. It was awfull..pippy3 wrote: try flixel or flash punk You can make game quickly, though most people discredit flash as 'noobish'
