What do you think of OpenSceneGraph?

Post by serengeor »

So what do you guys think of OpenSceneGraph?
Have you used it? if so what are your experiences of using it?
How does it compare to irrlicht(speed, built in functionality, ease of use)?

For me from the samples it looks really nice and robust, though I had problems setting it up. Had to do 'make install' (which I don't really like or prefer) in order to get its plugins run.

I find OSG has slightly more to offer but I think it's more for simulations rather than games

Why is that so?

What I've seen it may have better lighting, and I've only really seen it used for simulations

imo it's very hard to code . but it might be useful for some people, I don't know.

I find it attractive, and not that hard to understand (thanks to irrlicht :) )
Though I do not think I will move from irrlicht to it, at least not until I finish my current project 8)

They have an implementation of the LiSPSM algorithm running, other than that, i haven't seen much of it.
