Nobody's doing it to be mean to him. We do appreciate the work anyone puts in to code snippets, additions, etc. They're simply stating the fact that it wouldn't have taken long to do, and that they could do it as well. Nobody's saying they don't appreciate his work. I could likely find countless cases of people saying stuff exactly like this back from near the beginning of this forum. Nothing's changed, you're just looking at the past through rose colored glasses.

of course we weren't saying it to be mean. anyways there was an implied request for feedback in his post.Lonesome Ducky wrote:Nobody's doing it to be mean to him. maybe, but it is still just being an ass, whether it occurred in the past or it is something about todays' kids, being an ass is just being an ass. It is too bad too, as I really did like this forum. I just dont think that I want to spend my day looking at kids who havent done anything put down every little thing that others do. It really is pretty sad to see such a good thing get overrun......as fate would have it, I think that I will delete this home page from my tabs for a while. I really am put out with it and you really wont care, so maybe it is time.

Whoa, what the hell???Seven wrote:I actually started looking at other engines because of the way this forum has changed over the past few years. It has taken a serious negative turn, to the point where it isnt even fun anymore. Imagine this post, "hey guys, I spent my time writing this and thought you might want to look at it!" answered with, "that shouldnt have taken more than an hour to write" wtf? I would keep typing but I am too tired of it to bother.........
I didn't say that this snippet would take few hours to write, even if it would. I do appreciate he shared it, though as he himself asked:
And the only thing I wrote is, "Yes you didsilver.slade wrote: So, Did I reinvented the (a) wheel ?!?!?
Can't you read?
The other comment was about his video. I wrote that it wouldn't take much to do whats in a video. From the video itself it looks like its just some water shader and some tut's of bullet thrown into one.
I think that he can deal, with what I wrote, and that he didn't take it as insult.
You should grow up yourself, the world is not just pink and blue.. Somebody can say something that you don't like, but you have to be a man and accept it.Seven wrote:This forum has really taken a turn for the worse with all the kids that are on it..............
Is that directed to me? Have you seen what I have already done? How can you tell that I haven't done anything if you haven't seen what I'm doing?Seven wrote:I just dont think that I want to spend my day looking at kids who havent done anything put down every little thing that others do.
I'm busy working on it, and it's not in the state where I could share it.
It's hard to believe that you left the forum because of the "kids", as you act like one right now.

lol I never known that a configuration console will be included in the next irrlicht sdk.
When i wrote mine someone told that something similiar should be included in the engine but never thinked that should appens. that's good even if the included console is not the mine XD.

I'm probably getting old and senile and such, but i've sweet memories of the forums being more civil in the past. But that probably applies to the internet as a whole, most people are turning into tards, probably even I, though i wish not for it.serengeor wrote: Can't you read?

Either read the post, roll your eyes, shut up and go to the next post, or simply ask them to post in the correct forum or tell them to use the search function. Also, if someone has already mentioned to the bad poster that they need to use the search function, their is no need for 5 other people to also remind them. All of this is the reason there are forum moderators.

I'm more annoyed and frustrated with the mean responses from the community then I am with the beginner posts.
So this means I started the flame war by writing my opinion about his video(which has nothing to do with this snippet..)?Luben wrote:

I wrote my last reply like that because of how Seven reacted to my opinion about silver.slade's video.

lonesome ducky just reading those posts makes me cringe...
anyways can we please get back on topic and stop fighting like fools?
so what, someone said something someone else doesn't like.
if you've ever been out in the real world you'll find that happens a lot.
deal with it. no need to throw hissy whine fits
so anyways..
OP here are my suggestions to make your your code snippet stand out a little more:
make it super cross platform
add more options maybe research up on graphics hardware and give users detailed options to add cool features by detecting their graphics card etc.
design an easy to read interface to finely tune settings graphically
maybe have a restart/reset/refresh options
that way we can test out our new graphics shaders or whatever.

Things were nicer back then mostly though. I wont be around much now, I think that the negative dont realize that they do it and I am too old to.... well, just too old. Pondering the release of our project. It is very nicely done and could probably help some folks. We will just have to see. In the mean time, it was nice chatting with you all for the past years. I sincerely hope that you create whatever it is that got you into this.
