A petition to frequent old users here..Would benefit people

Post by vermeer »

I have put in my sig a link to the faq sticky thread, and other also to tool sticky ones...

As I may post much less here, it's of not much use my sig...So...those that feel in the mood or think is an useful (it's proved to be by far the most effective way in other forums to guide newbies quickly to the key of things, and reducing question-posts about that) idea , please add to ur sig a link to the faq and tools forum, but saying 'please look at ths sticky threads' , or do as me that have filled my sig witha direct link to those 2 sticky. Sorry, didn't add the libraries one, may be as useful, but I'm more worried bout the load of art questions...If not many artists here, is a good thing to have this thing quite visible...

So, if the more frequent here (even one...Tyn, Afecelis, Bal, Electron...etc..) put a link to it, it'd help a lot newbies and even ppl with expertise, as for what I am seing it's becoming quite a cool, centralized resource :)

I am also going to *try* to find a place to upload many tools I have in my CDs that I find extremely useful, all free, that I have collected through years. just a dirty place to click a download file...Hm..perhaps a free website, but it needs to allow quite a lot of downloads, external linking in forums, have like 20 megs at list, and have some good bandwithd... I'm asking here...
http://irrlicht.sourceforge.net/phpBB2/ ... 5835#25835

Id post it in tools and..probaly in faq sticky threads, too, as is so related to the tuts...one can't do em without certain freebies.

Like md3 compiler, mview, but many other less than 400ks tools that become so really useful in indy game dev.

This way is not so needed so much posts bout this stuff, a lot of help is being already there.
Digging the net to see if find some good site for this.. if is a site, expect it to be really ugly, I wont take more time than upload the files and putting the link in the stickies...

Done :). I have 50MB of webspace from my provider. I don't now about the bandwidth limit. I think they only shut down if it would be like a few 100MB/day (warez :)). It's quite fast and not frequently down. So, I could host some tools.

Great :)

And thanks for adding the links in your sig :)

I've taken a hell of a work to udpate both threads...But is better solution. :)

The link to download tiny tools. Thanks a lot (in the name of the comunity ;)) How can I pass you the files ? Well, I'll pass you an email address (Which I almost don't check, but will check for these days for this stuff. I don't even trust in PM pages...fear the spam email bots... I 'll give you my other email address once email connection stablished, as is easier for me. If you agree.)

So you I will be able to email you the files.
Most are pretty small. I can go sending you with updated htm or something so u just have to upload, or upload once u have them all, as you prefer.
Some I suppose you already have, like Mview.
I have continuous connection, so , in my side there's no problem with sendings. I can only send a 1.5 megs file, but all are way, way bellow that. I can do chunked 1.5 files in exe compressed format, if u get interested by an specific one.

Once we have it up there, we can put a link of something. I don't mind doing a quick and dirty html(index.htm or whatever) file with the zips linked.

Is it ok?

Ok for me. I suggest you mail to cybermbATSIGNgmail.com (you know what to replace) because that box can handle 1GB and my hotmail is kinda full :).

Perfect, Bal. :)

I'll do in some hours.

I have to dig a bit in my backup cds, as I have some of these free tools(they aren't a lot, they're just not "centralized",inded, is mostly the few ones which aren't easily available or at all on internet. ) in very old cds.

I'll mail you later :)
