3ds to .x converting

Post by inadilemma »

i made an animated model in 3ds max but could not load it with all animations in irrlicht; then i tried to export it in .x format using a plugin
this time it worked neatly but number of animation frames multiplyed by 160!!! my original model had 30 frame but new .x model has 4800 frame

can any one tell me how can i effectively convert 3ds to .x format or
how to do without it simply using the animated 3ds directly in irrlicht?

If you are using the panda X exporter, you must set an option to reduce the number of frames exported. I think you have to check "actual key frames" and uncheck Max keyframes. I havn't used the exporter for a while so I'm not exactly sure.

that one I discovered recently, and I'm really curious about it. gettin perhaps to a cg job soon, and there i may try it...mainly interested in the dx import, as I'm quite happy already with Panda, but u never know, it's good to have two exporters for a format.

Great thing that the author made it, and very specially that made the importer, no other x import plugin with bones and weights....yay...

For example, makes it possible to continue editing an anim that was made in character Fx. That was not possible before...or in Blender, also :)
(actually blender can also use md5, as there's an md5 importer for max, and the blender md5 exporter)
Finally making games again!

download the file and use any application to unzip it.
you will get a folder named 'plugin' and there is a file inside.
just move that file (.dle) to 'plugin' folder inside '3dmax' folder.
that's all.
the plugin will automatical load while opening 3dmax.
you will see X file format when you try to export your model.
