I am a steam gamer. Whenever I get bored, I like to burn some time playing video games. So I fire up steam, search for a game, check out the reviews and decide whether to buy it or not. But I am a point now where I am dissatisfied with the games that I play. Sometimes games have pretty interesting concepts or high review scores. But when I buy and play the game I am disappointed with what I get. I remember playing Saints Row 3 and I loved it. To me it was Grand Theft Auto with a lot of fun elements. I looked forward to Saints Row 4 and when it came out I bought it. I was utterly disappointed. I even bought Grand Theft Auto 4 and to me it was crap. Then I said to myself, if there was a demo, I could play it and see if I liked the game or not. LOL, that is really funny because in the old days one could get a Playstation Demo disk of a game and play. So my question is, whatever happened to demos. Just because a game gets 90 on a review does not mean you are going to like it. I am tired of spending money on games later to find out that it was not worth my time.
What do you think?
What ever happened to Game Demos?
Re: What ever happened to Game Demos?
1. I think Steam has demos. You should look in the demo section.
2. I use youtube to see how a game plays.
3. If I want to spend half an hour playing, I fire up Fear3 and replay an Interval.

Releasing crappy demo's is bad for profit ![Razz :P](./images/smilies/icon_razz.gif)
No I'm kidding, I think they actually release less demo's because most of the game's nowadays require dedicated servers to connect to, and I think it's just too much of a hassle for them to do so seeing most people will look it up on youtube.
Still I also miss demo's, in the past I always had to use them to find out if my pc would actually run the game. (good old middle schooler days

Re: What ever happened to Game Demos?
I still remember back in the days of Super NES and even the first Playstation, video game shops displayed all the latest games on TV displays with autoplay mode. I still remember all kids standing outside the shops looking at Tekken characters fighting each other and Rayman running around by itself lol.
Whatever happened to autoplay demo?![Razz :P](./images/smilies/icon_razz.gif)
