Ogre 1.1 was a development branch of 1.2 Dagon.
I tested 1.10 Xalafu (one point ten), which is the current version of Ogre you would get if you clone the mercurial repo as the default branch. It's where current development work is done that's not part of the future 2.0 branch. (2.0 is a major change and has been a long term project, so it's been developed in parallel to the 1.x series)
1.8.1 came out in 2012.
