I'm worried about these pixels.

"Sphere Reflection Test"
Image
CPU raytracer, built and drawn to screen with irrlicht stuff. I can do reflection, transmission, and both on my main material, and it's easy to add more rays, so maybe I'll do a calcite example. Yes, it's recursive-based, so it uses the stack and is slower than I originally wanted. But this render only took a minute or two with its anti-aliasing setting set to 2 (1 means no AA; 2 means 2x2 samples per pixel (so 4 samples), 3 means 3x3 (9) samples per pixel, etc.). I suppose I should have set the AA higher since the edges still look alittle rough.
It has adjustable index of refraction on the standard material, and I can make and add other materials easily.

I wanted to have odd non-photo-realistic effects such as that bizarre lighting you see on the blue sphere (which glows on the ground). Alot of work just to have odd stuff like that, but I'm happy with it, so it was worth it.

I thought I could use stuff already built into irrlicht, but some stuff proved to be not as useful as I wanted. I ended up rewriting the triangle3d class to include normals and texture coordinates. I intend to add textured materials tomorrow... or soon.

And that's probably the last you'll hear of it for awhile.
