Re: [VIDEO]export animation from Blender 2.79b to Irrlicht (b3d mode) and bake texture
The bummer is the devs removed b3d export from Blender 2.9 (WHY???), which makes this tutorial useless moving into the future. The devs keep gutting Blender, which makes them more frustrating than the obsolescence of Irrlicht mesh loading.

In my opinion, which is personal, I like blender 2.79b and irrlicht better, which are much faster on a 10-year-old computer, than combining the slow performance of new applications, which manifest problems with memory at runtime. and old drivers, I like to develop for windows 7 even though most people don't use itchronologicaldot wrote: ↑Sun Dec 24, 2023 4:19 pm The bummer is the devs removed b3d export from Blender 2.9 (WHY???), which makes this tutorial useless moving into the future. Re: [VIDEO]export animation from Blender 2.79b to Irrlicht (b3d mode) and bake texture
Thanks Noiecity.
It seems that bones and vertices need to be linked. Parenting by automatic weights in the video assigns the bone and vertices that way?
(actually both .49 and .59 had terrible flashing UI on my computer, so I'm glad this export works with .79b, although the plug said it works with .59 so I tried that first... Actually I tried .49 first and the plugin didn't work so I tried again.)

Re: [VIDEO]export animation from Blender 2.79b to Irrlicht (b3d mode) and bake texture
I did try out Asset Importer (assimp) when browsing the forums for animation uses. I didn't get very far because I lack the skills it needed - but when I can use it I can tell you about it. Maybe a blend file to md2?
Re: [VIDEO]export animation from Blender 2.79b to Irrlicht (b3d mode) and bake texture
fragMotion can convert almost anything, I use it for example, to convert .x to b3d for animations that don't have bones(without bones you can rotation, climbing and location, but not shapekeys (vertic animation)), fragMotion is free, when you use it and the trial license runs out, it asks you to make a biblical prayer and it renews the license, literally.

fragMotion supports Game Studio .mdl ???? Wow! I haven't seen that format in ages.
Too bad fragMotion is only for Windows. As a Linux user, I sometimes feel like Irrlicht is still for the Windows platform all the tools were created for.
