Fragmotion, character modeler

Post by afecelis »

fragMOTION is a powerful 3D modeller specifically intended for the creation and animation of characters. fragMOTION is intuitive and easy to use and contains many features that are only found in top of the line modellers. And if that's not enough for you, the event driven scripting system makes it a breeze for you to add your own features.

I'm not sure; I think fragmotion imports ms3d files. But about the interface, as far as I know, there are templates for 3d apps that come with the 4 views and a basic set of menus, you just gotta add the rest of the stuff. You can find some free or commercial; perhaps they're using a similar template to build their app.

u know, I like to agree usually with u...

but since this thing appeared have tested several versions...I'm an animator, and I don't find it even minimally confortable...even prefer Blender...Of course I am not trying to compare with my xsi or with Character Studio, but even CFX is more intuitive and with better workflow...

yet though I'd even buy it just for animation conversions and some editing, it seems it supports weights for the conversions unlike ms3d...that is what ultimate unwrap, but animation full conversion is only for few formats in uu...yep, I think is useful, but really not even with tricks someone posted in other places I can find it comfortable...Blender is much more direct....

CharacterFX isn't very comfortable neither. Havn't tried fragMOTION yet, but to take CharacterFX's place it doesn't need much i think... :)
It is like it is. And because it is like it is, things are like they are.

@Ver: nope man, I haven't animated with it. I just got excited to know there was a new-affordable tool for developers to animate stuff since CFX seems to be dead. They were working on version 1.4 and even released a beta (with a new 3d template more stnadard-3d-program-like) which seemed promising; but 2 years have passed ever since.

perhaps I'm just being nostalgic, but I'll try to animate some stuff in fragmotion, And yup, nothing compares to high-level packages' animation tools, but for that price I think Cfx and Fragmotion are interesting proposals.

:D

I know, I know...yep.

Imho, Blender is better than both...even being lower than Max, Gmax and XSI... For what is animation for characters...(So i'll leave out a comparison between Max or xsi / cfx, fragmotion, etc ;) )
