IrrFontTool.exe doesnt work!

Post by Kenny Starfighter »

Hello there

This seemes like a handy little tool, but once I create a font and try to paste it into photoshop, it says I have to little RAM. I don't, but could there be a problem that Im running win98?

If this is not solved, is there another rather easy way to gt nw fonts for irrlicht? I saw that truetypefont-support libraries but it seemes to complex and I dont get it to work...

You can get IrrFontTool here for those who want it:

So any tips?
Thanks

You're saying it crashes when you paste it in Photoshop. Then I'm afraid this has nothing to do with the IrrFontTool but with your own Photoshop/computer configuration.

Its not crashing BAL, maybe its something to do with the size of the clipboard within 98... But I wouldn't have thought that would make a difference. Have you tried with any other editing software??

It doesn't work for me too when I try to paste the bitmap I copied from IrrFontTool. BTW I'm on Win98SE.

Never tried it out on Win98. Sorry, seems to be a bug by me.

BTW: Maybe a good time to switch the OS, Win98 is nealy 7 years old, which means reaaaally old in computer years. :)

Hello;
May not be the case here, but when I used win98se,
Photoshop had a problem of defaulting to 8 inch by 11 inch
when creating new texture. This of course would crap out,
because I did not have enough RAM. I had to remind myself
to switch to "pixels" each time and select a moderate size
that could be handled. You may also try a smaller size if
this is not the case and see if it works. Ie 256X256 or 128X128
pixels instead of inches or milimeters.

LOL, Yes it's time to switch the OS. Anyway I wasn't using Photoshop but IrfanView to paste the bitmap file. I have 512MB RAM and 60GB of free space on my hard drive, so I don't think low system resources are the problem here.

Ye the win98 was on my parents computer and when i got back to my town and my winxp it works. So it seemes it is win98 that cannot handle it.

I got the IrrFontTool to work under Win98SE :). I modified the source adding a function that saves the bitmap to a BMP file insted of copying it to the clipboard and now it works ok. I need to clear the compatible bitmap after it is created though.
