OK, I downloaded the DX9c SDK from the MSDN but some of the files seem to be missing, including Mview, sample code ,etc. Whazzup with that?

Stuff is deprecated from the SDK. It happens. If it's something you can't live without, grab an older version that has it.

Check the readme to see what they take out.
Crud, how do I do this again?

You may need to download the extras, as they have
been putting alot of the samples and utilities in the
extras, you will also find the symbols for your system
there as well.

Lol, I suppose they couldn't live while knowing dx worked properly, and decided to do something about it.

Microsoft's Motto:
If it's broken, fix it.
If it works, fix it.
If it's fixed, fix it some more.
If a 3rd party makes our product work correctly, sue them, take the code for ourselves, and fix it :P

Actually, most of Microsoft's recent products work great. The top reason that make them appear flawed is their popularity. All OSes, Web Servers, etc have exploits; out of them MS products get targeted more easily.
