writing new tutorials - interesting themes ?

Post by Alex001 »

I would really like to write a tutorial to give the community a little "payment" for all the things I took of them.
Which themes are welcome ?
I found a lot of very low level tutorials and very high level tutorials but very few in the middle range ...
F.e. I think a beginner tutorial for how to use a modeller, include the files, setting the lights etc. could be helpful to a newbee ?

Any comments ?

It's would be good to see a racing game tutorial(all FPS info that can be found when we search in the forum are embarassing[I mean:huge amount]
for the middle range and for advanced range an adventure like gothic(for those who don't know that I'm talking about, gothic is a third person adventure with some RPG element, and the last chapter,Gothic 2, is one of the wonderful games I've played).
How do you think :) ?

I can host them at IrrDev Center if you would like! :)

Also I think if you want to make a tutorial on making a game, I would say the basics of an RPG like the life, stamina bars would be good and world building with the new terrain system. 8)

How about something very basic? Understand the concept of the structure of irrlicht. For example. What is a scenenode? What is it for? Why do you need it? Understanding the engine as a whole instead of just it's parts.

good ideas

Hi guys,

thank you for your feed-back
these all are pretty good ideas ...
I think I will for my 1st tutorial start with a detail problem, because a newbee will have problems to understand a complex game in C++.
I have also been an Irrlicht neebe once.

But: you gave me the idea to start a open community game.
That means to cooperate over the net, talk together, document states, tell about problems.
Game-Development live !
But keep in mind that we speak about a easy-to-understand-game !

How do you think about ?
