Error compiling-even with example programs

Post by BearCDP »

Hi, I was giving Irrlicht a whack with VC6 Sp5. It compiles fine, but when I run it the program abort and gives me this:

"This application has failed to start because Irrlicht.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem."

I noticed something along these lines was addressed in the FAQ, but I have checked and double-checked my include and lib directories, and they are correct. Is there any way to correct this problem?

Thanks,
Michael

You also want to make sure that the Irrlicht DLL is place into the folder the project you are compileing is in.

Ah! It works now.

That might be something to put in the FAQ or Hello World tutorial to deter n00bish posts such as this.

Thank you.

The message:

Not for somebody who's never used DLLs in any extensive way before.

I was able to figuare it out very quickly and at the time I'd never even used a compiler before. in fact at that time all I did know was html.

like he said selfexplainitory... and there is alot of threads on this very same subject if you had cared to look but that new topic button was just too big and flashy wasn't it?

Actually I spent a good 4 hours perusing through the Beginner's board and goofing around with different project settings. If you have the nerve to come to here, the Beginner's board, and condescend an individual who is only trying to learn then you probably have some self esteem problem to work out.

And yes, I do like the new post button. Why? I really didn't have any more time to spend on figuring the problem out, so what the hell else am I supposed to do. It's a privelige for those who register with the forum, and I took the opportunity to use that privelige.
