3d Suite Designers Out There?

This is probably a rather stupid question but I'm curious to know if anyone on here is actually working in the industry (outside of a hobby) as a 3D Modeller/Animator. If so, what is your education background?

Do you think the new tech programs for game design are worth their immense cost? (The Art Institute is somewhere around 70k for full tuition).
