Giles+My3d latest version

Post by afecelis »

latest version has got a small tint of blue fog, particles under the dome and rotating clouds (with a transparent skysphere).

DX and opengl versions included; opengl shows a bug that makes the skydome change color when moving around and it's much clearer, dx is a bit darker. Please test it and share your experience.

ps. Still working on getting trees to work properly, I hope next version will have them

Ok, why wasn't the moving clouds in the vid??

lol, here are my observations...

In DX Everything looked great eccept the sprites. The white ones were almost transperant.

In OGL everything looked great. Even the sprites. Now, it was like looking thru the lense of a camera tho. If you looked up and turned, you would get light glare like looking thru a camera and turning twords the sun.

Keep going. Can't wait to see those trees. :)
If it exists in the real world, it can be created in 3d

Sys specs:
AMD 3700+ 64 processor
1.0 gb ram
e-Geforce 6600 graphics 256 mb onboard ram

thnx for the concise report  hope your grandson has fun in this one too.

The skysphere wasn't ready when I made the video :(

Zdimitor is being very supportive to get the trees up and running.

ps. And I just noticed this has been my post # 1500!!!!!!!!

Trees!

Post by afecelis »

Ok guys, Zdimitor's efforts explaining me how things work for trees are finally showing results!
Image

now new problems show up. It seems like the alpha channel texture in the trees makes the particles disappear in DX, and make the skydome with the clouds turn completely white in OpenGL! arrrrrgggggghhhh!! heheheh, one thing gets fixed and 3 go nuts.

And I still gotta set the level's emf lighting to "true" and place a dynamic light as a sun to get a nice effect on the trees (according to Zdimitor's advice).

Besides that, lightmapping in Giles with the trees present also needs some tweaking. Trial and error it is.

I think we must solve this problems (may be problem in my patches)!
We eliminate some bugs, but others appears.

I need your GTest project (with particles, skydome and trees), files CD3DMaterialRenderers.h and COpenGLMaterialRenderers.h

Nice :D
Afecelis:You're a great modeler.
ZDimitor My3d format is a great format for Irrlicht, got on an evolve it with more
features(like octree created form 3dmax-will eliminate much loading for big scenes, and maybe LOD for meshes-pecompiled too )
I askes Niko if it will put LOD in the next version and sayed first he got other features to think first for(a sort of No) and then told me that Irrlicht has a sort of omtion for LOD when loading meshes(in IMesh I think-I have seen it to but havent feagured out how to use it).
Afecelis:Idea, if you don't dislike the idea model a small part of an Post Apocaliptic City(have you played Fallout-something like that but with modern skyscrapers).

:D
Good luck.
