newbie needs massive help

Post by david-b »

Hey all. I'm new to this engine. I used to use the Genesis3D gaming engine, but it wasn't 'satisfing' enough. A couple Q&U:

1) What can I use to make levels for this engine? What formats can I use? (i.e. bsp, map...)

2) Are there anyother tutorials out there? Othere than the ones here?

Thanks

Oh, and I don't consider ms3d or animator a level editor.

for levels you can use any supported Mesh format: .3ds, .ms3d, .bsp, etc

for tutorials; did you look at the (heavily commented) code examples that came with the engine?

The game uses Quake 3 maps for levels, so a Quake 3 level editor should work for you. Possibly some other game map formats as well, anyone know a complete list?

I've been looking for a Quake 3 editor, but they all seem to be dead links or just dead ends. Does anyone have the name for a good one? possibly free.

Yeah, i looked at the examples, just looking for more. :-) I'm looking for doing a racing game. The only thing with the G3D Engine is that the level size is VERY limited. Is there a limit to the Quake levels or no.

Also, when I tried ms3d levels, they didnt seem to load. I must be doing something wrong. All I did was make some boxes, and nothing came up in the demo when i changed the source to the filename. Whats up?

Thanks.
