Visual Studio 2005 Express Editions Beta 2

Post by afecelis »

download cd images for each package here:
http://lab.msdn.microsoft.com/express/m ... l/#burning

if you had installed beta1 express editions follow this link to uninstall them properly prior to installing the beta2:
http://lab.msdn.microsoft.com/express/uninstall/

remember it's beta stuff, non commercial.

I'm using the Team System version (not Express) right now and it's the best IDE I used so far.

I've downloaded and installed it... wow this look cool!
Since I finished my university semester, I will have some some free time... So I will start to play with it...

I want to check if the provided compiler with msvc express is as good as Toolkit one... I will keep you tuned.

coooool! 8)

I couldn't install it since I screwed up previous install; sqlserver broke some stuff and now only a HD format will fix it. But I'm too lazy to do that now.
hehehe

let me know if it's worth the try. meanwhile I still like the toolkit+codeblocks

yes codeblocks+toolkit rocks!
But I'm curious so I want to test this new one too.
(BTW there is a debugger too  )

that's the only thing the toolkit is missing, a debugger!

but you can debug with codeblocks+ a gcc cmpiler + gdb

The debugger provided with VS Beta 2 from the MSDN subscription is the best I've ever seen. I could have never thought of a user-friendly debugger

I had had the beta 1 so I uninstalled it and installed the beta 2 and everything works fine except that for some reason I can't access the VC++ Directories in the options menu. This is bad for me because I can't add new directories. Does anyone else have this problem?

Yes, it's true..... I got the same problem... :(
It seems to be a known bug.

(it seems complicated to work-around....)

I don't have really more time to use vc++beta2 anymore today...
I have to work (why do we need to have a job? why not passing all days on the front of your computer, or with friends/family? Life is sometimes cruel...)
I will check this more later (maybe this week-end...)

See ya! :D

Thanks for exploring that detail for me. I think I might have to go back to the first beta and just wait for the third because of it.
