Can't wait to see this one finished. :) I liked zelda when it first came out.
If it exists in the real world, it can be created in 3d

Sys specs:

Let's not start a legal war yet, ok, the screenshots, at least up to this point nothing can be incriminating, no names appear yet, no enemies are defined, so up to this point ... nothing!
How can you tell that I'm not making a SDK for my own use, eh? :) (This is the reason I don't post stuff too often over here). I like criticism, it's constructive, but please have in mind that I have spent 5 hours a day for the last 4 weeks on this project, and that I've programmed in C++ for only 1/2 a year, will you ? :) :)

See u later,
ME, Myself and I :( :) :D

My advice to you is continue with what you are doing, and that is a great job. Don?t be put off by people who take the moral high ground on behalf of faceless corporations,

AssiDragon is correct in that you?re not supposed to go near it with a barge poll, even if it is a closed dev hobbyist project and therefore don?t plan to sell it. But he?s wrong in saying its copyrighted, it isn?t!

I had a similar problem in 2002, when some external sites linked to mine and become too popular( for my own good anyway). I received a cease and desist for my mobile Donkey Kong game. It?s no real biggie as you either change the graphics or remove it from your site. It falls under Intellectual property and Trademark law.

Anyway, if they don?t know about it, they won?t care about it. Just don?t be too popular.

Keep up the good work :D

Finally the oppinion I was hoping to hear! Thanks area51, glad there's still people who care about art for a change ... As for the game, it's not even listed on google yet so no worries here, as for popular, I get the ideea (I should keep my head low for a while). ok, well thanks, see u later and... hope I can finish it :)

wow. I like :)

I'm with the copyright lobby though, you should call it zeldu or something so they can't touch you, then you can actually have your full 15 minutes of fame when it's released rather than being bullied off the internet by the megacorps.

keep it up :)

Wha? Zelda is most certainly copyrighted. And I didn't say Cristian would copyright this work... :?

You can't copyright a name, Zelda is a name.

Maybe i'm spliting hairs here, but it's protected under Trademark law, not Copyright law.

Well, TM and (c) usually acts the same way. Their purpose is to show that the subject is owned by someone, and you can't use them (another question is while trademark is mostly for brands/names, copyright is for original expressions' or methods' ownership). While there are certain differences between the two, if you consider both under one hat you don't make a grieve mistake in common cases.

And yeah, I feel it's hairsplitting. 8)

You'd want to check the copyrights, normally they don't restrict to just commercial projects, but as long as it has Saria's song, i'm all for it :)

I'm back. But promise me you won't jump at my neck again for my shots. so here goes: I've finished the interface and I have made a fairy scene node (based upon keless's tps camera code) that follows the character.

Read up on trademarks vs. copyright here:

http://www.uspto.gov/web/offices/pac/do ... whatis.htm

Unless something in Christians game is actually COPIED it does not fall under copyright law. Zelda and the visual character of Link are in all likelihood trademarked by Nintendo.
It could however be argued that since the model pretty much looks like Link it was copied, even if it was done artistically rather than digitally.
Should put something witty here I suppose.

U people are nutz!(just kiddin :)) It is all HAND-MADE! In WINGS 3D which is free and a copy of 3DS MAX 2.5 I got for 10$ from a guy! It's done in LINUX!!! using WINE for the compilator to work. And the environment is textured Deled LITE.

For all of you, there are TONS of people doing this, literally TONS! And gues what no one's got busted (yet). This is NOT a money source, it's a test for me, to see whether I can do a fairly complex game or not.

So it's clear then. I'm not going to post here anymore, at least not anytime soon...
