Mupolis engine, known earlier as Virtual City, site moved!

Post by don_Pedro »

Hello there!
You can finally download it from the following address:
http://www.mupolis.com/mupolis_demo_v0.05.1.zip
It's still very early and incomplete version but I want to have some response from all of you. What I'm mostly interested in - is it working for you? :) Next please tell me how's fps? I know it may be slow on older computers, because I haven't yet implemented several planned optimizations, but I wonder. And finally of course, do you like it? I'll be very grateful for your opinions 8) .

runs at anywhere from 60fps - 150fps with a 64mb g force 3 ti 200

I'll test it with my other card when i get it back if i can remember.

personal thoughts:

awsome!
this is my highest rating (always on a comparative scale of course)

best Irrlicht project idea and demo I've seen yet.

very professionally done.. I could complain about a few things but can't we all.

I DID find a bug however outside the construction site fense (yellow) I got stuck... plus w,a,s,d is the prefered control set of and right handed FPS player. confuses noobs..

great, wonderful, fantastic, now make an editor and open source project and we'll talk.

Too bad, I thought I've solved the problem with stucking arround fences, but I got the same effect now. I'll look up what's wrong.
I will release version of demo with fixes soon, there will be posibility to choose controls and other addons. I will probably release the editor next 2 months, but it going to be hard core tool for now, I mean quite awkward and tricky, but I did this map with it anyway.

Great work DonPedro!!!

I'd only say: scale your whole level a bit, like on a 1:1.5 proportion to make architecture a bit more proportioned. But it looks n' feels great! Midnight is totally right; not only is it original and refreshing, but well elaborated. I love the reflections on the blue glass building.

oh yes, and stay away from those fences_! :D :D

it was runing on 40-70 fps on my pc (1 ghz, 256 ram, g-force 2 mx 200)
-> my pc is crap (but it still runs with decent fps :D yay :D)

It surely will be open source one day, when I at least get rid of such quirks like hard coded textures  . I don't wanna show people something such incomplete.

But you have anyway problems only with yellow fence? It was before with all of them, that's progress :). Yellow one is constructed little differently and the point should be there.

I just launched project's website. It's very simple now, you can only download demo there, but it wil surely get bigger with the project.

FPS 60 - 85

Athlon 1800 1 gig ram. Gefore Ti (something or other).

The first time I loaded it, I fell through the floor and kept on falling :(

I also got stuck on the yellow fence, but I get stuck on yellow fences in real life so no real problem.

Very impressive.
