This new version comes with the Irrlicht project template included!!!!

many thanks to the Codebocks team for implementing it!!!

yes, the new release is great. but i think the irrlicht template is pretty useless, there are way more things in the new release that are more important :)

ps: the "open-files" bug is solved (if you close your project, the open files stay open)

more news!!!

Following Daniel2000's tutorial on how to build Codeblocks as an RPM package I was able to build mine. It works great in Suse 10 but I guess it may work on other RPM package-distribution distros.

you can grab it here:

hehehe, yup! I usually get too excited with new stuff I think might help Irrlichters so while I post I'm just FTP'ing the file, hehehehe.

Cool, they added my template :D
BTW, sorry if I was inactive in the last months (I only checked the forums sometimes and I didn't post)...
well, I decided to take a break...
Let's hope I will have the time to become more active now. :P

Yeah, the new release of Code::Blocks is great. I'm now able to set it up to compile Irrlicht and Ogre with both gcc and the VC++ 2003 Toolkit. Very slick... 8)

I just tried Code::Blocks for the first time a few days ago, it looks pretty solid, especially since I can port all my old Dev-C++ projects over to it. The auto-complete feature is pretty sexy as well.

codeblock sucks on linux though :) its very slow at rendering fonts (if much sourcecode is visible its dead slow, somebody knows a fix for this?)

It doesn't run slow on my distro. Did you try the RPM package linked above? Or give this other one a try; it's smaller in size and the spec file was developed by pro linuxers (tho this one didn't work fine on my system, only the one I built):

i just did a "emerge codeblocks" with the codeblocks 1.0 rc2 ebuild found at the codeblocks forums *g* could be my editor settings though, i clear my cfg files and see if it gets fast again :)

hehehe, forgot you are a Gentooer  (As I also am, only that I'm using suse lately for its binary installation). The ebuild should work fine and be optimized for your system.

Did you get any warnings in the emerge process? perhaps missing dependencies or libraries?

nope no warnings, everything is perfect :) (besides: its almost scary that everything runs fine and _fast_ at the moment :) its really nice to work with gentoo like this)

i guess i solved the problem a little, i just cleared the codeblock settings file. still, a little slow, but i think its because i turned subpixel antialiasing for my fonts on (fonts look much clearer on TFT like that hehe)

well, its still a lot better than before now :D
