Dusty Engine Demo 4

Post by roninmagus »

Hey all! I've made a new Demo for Dusty Engine that I think is my best work yet with Irrlicht and Dusty Engine. I put it up on my website, I'll copy my news entry:
I've been a part of a development group for a while now planning a small, shareware game using Irrlicht and Dusty Engine. I've been working for a couple weeks now on a proof-of-concept demo to give an idea how the game will play.

I've decided to turn that POC into an official Demo for Dusty Engine, primarily because it shows off what can be done with the new Entity system provided with release 8.

Using those entities and their capability of task management, this small demo uses state- driven Artificial Intelligence to simulate a huge space battle between 4 factions. I'm very, very proud of this one, go to the downloads section to check it out!
Here's an image of the Demo in action:

You can download it in the download section of my website:

Or a straight download here:

Let me know if there are any issues.. also, what is your average FPS? There's a LOT going on in the background.

No input, it's just a simulated space battle, with autonomous, state-driven AIs.[/quote]

Hey Dave, this is great! :D
My results:
ATI Radeon 9200SE 128M (w/latest drivers)
DX9.0c: lowest was 90 (mothership blowing up) Avg: 190
OGL 1.5: lowest was 70 (mothership blowing up) Avg: 120

The Dusty Engine just keeps getting better and better! 8)

Thanks Int, I appreciate it :D

The next demo will probably be about the same, except with more types of ships and fully 3d, allowing you to fly around and the ships move in 3d, instead of 3d graphics on a 2d plane.

I'll certainly look forward to it. :)

The "entity" class in this release looks well thought out and it's bloody fast! Great job! I know it's no small feat to code something like this...

BTW, you know this new release completely breaks Tutorial #2 on your website... ahh, the price of progress... lol
