MD2 models
if is not for a comercial project, you can use Id tools, or derived from them, like qdata. Maybe better an slightly modified version of it :

The idea is to take a bunch of 3ds files and compile into md2.
You can do this also appending frames in 3ds format too, and save as md2, with the free (also for comercial) Quake modeler. For that one, just look at my signature.
Cinema4d hasn't got an md2 export plugin, not that am aware of at least...
Well, I didn't know, but there's actually a pair of bones and weights *.x exporters for Cinema 4d. One allowed for comercial projects (but you need to have the cinema4d Mocca module) :

...or another which seems to work with cinema standard(but can't be used for comercial use. You need to contact the author and get his permission...) :

Both seem to support bone skinweights and animation. And *.x is also supported by Irrlicht, so... IMO if you have mocca, go for the first. Or if ur into comercial projects, but don't have mocca, then use the md2 trick I mentioned, or simply grab blender
