On the image http://irrlicht.sourceforge.net/images/shots/055.jpg the shadows are rendered "on-the-fly" or its on texture ?

Can you point me to any lightmap tutorial/spec on the web ?

when you make a q3 (bsp) level in a level editor those lightmaps are baked for you automagically
