hehehe, thanks guys for all the feedback! Poor chippie; in fact, I've always thought he seems to be swimming, well ...drowning. Poor chippie.

YAY :D AFCIELIS has embraced blender
Nice cartoon character i cant seee the movie now but i hope u use cool edge settings and ramp materials for a cel rendered toon
most users of max etc.. dont like touching blender as if it would hurt their pride or something

afcilies is not exgurating about the feautres
blender is really easy to use to make cool things like(easier than max in most areas)

-bakeable physics,ik...
- fluid sim
-yafray
-auto UV YES blender does have auto uv see uv window->archimap script
-rigging
-python scripts which are alot easier to use than max script

its free, well documented and easy to learn i did this without any courses most max users have to do courses to get the hang of it

Image

these pic demonstrate blenders uses
- first 3 ehhh rendering cool stuff
-man pic shows low poly model +rig+uv
-last pic is level design using oct format and fsrad

so blender in my stipid opinion is very flexible for all uses(unlike wings)

i cant even use Gmax but i can use blender so the whole "BLENDER`S UI IS SO STUPID AND HARD" is well a stupid excuse =p

Edit: seen the render and it pretty cool with that setup
the anim is nice and flexible too, did u use bezier ipo curves on the bondes for the smoothness

Thanks Omaremad! :D Roots were starting to grow waiting for the beginners challenge I was a fan of (modeling and rigging in blender), heheheheh. So I decided to dive into tutorials and try it out for myself; the good thing is that you can find lots of them!! :D But I know you're very experienced with it so any tips to guide me into learning some more are greatly appreciated!

True, but checking elysiun forums (now blenderartists) I've noticed many ppl that use expensive programs are saying that blender has become a must tool for speeding up stuff. So mainly, they are using the pros for very specific rendering tasks, which Iguess blender will end catching up with time. Blender, once you get a grip of its workflow, is a pleasure to use  I even read a post from a max user saying he quit using max and switched to blender; that it did everything he needed and only could get better. On the other hand, he couldn't afford paying for expensive updates so often (heehehe, like me and my baby cry scandal before   ).

hehehe, nope! I don't even know how to use them yet. I just rigged it, was too tired to assign vertex groups so I played a bit with the envelopes, went into animation, pose mode, pressed on the red recording button and started adding some keyframes  Oh yes! IK was enabled. But I still got to learn all those things Vermeer mentions. Thanks for all the enthusiasm, and yup, I had embraced Blender since a long time ago and I always wanted to use it, but I was studying it all this time. Since the the 2.thirty something version it's reached a nice level of matureness. And it's amazing you can get such a tool for free. And Vermeer is right; Blender-Wings3d is a killer combo!
If you want you can grab the blend file here:

oh yes! and the unrigged character with ref images here:

mwahaha

I do dominate em all. Max, Blender, wings... One ring....

And I pretty know what is better in what...

Max users are wrong saying Blender worths for nothing, and Blender ones too often are a bit as fanatic as to get out of reality...

I agree with Vermeer. I think it's great to incorporate as many tools as you can in your pipeline. in the end, what you learn from one tool can be applied in the others. And all major 3d packages are starting to have the same features lately, so if you learn one you'll find that using another one is very intuitive. :D

Yup. There's just one and only "3d". ;)

I learnt it the hardest way possible(not totally for pleasure).
