Favorite Doc Style?

Post by RustyNail »

 This may seem to be a stupid question, but

What do people think of the way some books explain (game, physics, ai, ect...) engines, API's, ect...
Explaining the aspects of the topic while working with the reader to a common goal. Using irrlicht as the lab-rat, (wishful thinking) making to tutorials build one upon another to build some simple game (wishful thinking). I like this method because I can easily see how all of the different elements fit together and how they can be used.... Right now the tutorials display different topic, but by reading them I still have problems combining them into another program the does ______...

No Offense, niko for the current docs and everything, but personally I prefer the type that I explained above. 8) But I still must thank you for even creating such a wonderful engine even if I want something to be different.

What are other people's opinions?

More tutorials are alway welcome, so just start writing down what you achieve while wroking through Irrlicht and there will be lots of people willing to host your stories.

Thats what I am planning to do, but you see, ah, i'm not really good at writing to make people understand...
And it is annoying, (though you learn more) when the already existing tutorials are harder to string together into another program.
I will have enough time to dig in to countless pages on the internet before I try something myself - I am on vacation in Estonia and will not be able to attempt anything before July 7-8... But then.... If I am lucky, goodbye Quake 2....
