FFXIII WTF?
FFXIII WTF?
OK. I can call myself a 'fan' of FF having played FF I to FF X-2 (+ FFXII demo), and I only hope that the best comes out of the series. BUT, FF XIII? Isn't it a bit off? If what I found on some websites is true, SQUARE might make at least FFXVI. Who knows, maybe when some of you will have grandchildren and they'll be playing FF XLVI (on PS 20-VR ) you'll tell them about FFVII on the PSone.
What is your point? Square has multiple teams developing the next FF game. There's probably a team working on FFXIV and FFXV as I post this message. They have to. Each of the FF games are huge (well, at least since FFVII). It probably takes more than 20+ developers to make one (probably close to 80). Look at how long it took to bring out the Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (I think about 4 years). Gothic III is taking a long time too.
Anyway, I'm not sure if I've added anything to the original post.

The FF franchise is huge. They too are even my favorite rpg's. They have the best story lines, imo. It is like a novel wrapped into playable games. They usually come up with unique level systems as well.
But the games are completely different. They don't even contain the same characters. They use the FF name over individual names simply because of franchise. Everyone knows that when an FF game comes out, Square must have spent millions. Their dev teamis very talented.
Yeah, FF is a great series, and let's hope it keeps being good. IMHO, FFVI-2 and FFVII-2 would be great additions to the series.
I thought square didn't believe in sequels of a particular FF game (i.e. FFX-2). I had no idea they're making FFVI-2 and FFVII-2 game (both next gen I hope). Advent Children is a great video (but I think non-fans of the series will think its boring).
I've played the FF series up to FF9. The one thing that annoys me to no end is the random battles and non-interruptable cutscenes (wherein the battle animation for summons are the worst). I think they've done away with that in FF12 & FF13 (the random battles I mean not the cutscenes).
I wished square would release FF10 & FF12 & FF13 on the PC platform. Granted, they have an exclusive deal with Sony and PS. But They did release FF7 and FF8 on the PC after like a year or so from the PS releases.
I don't own any of Sony's game machines PS1, PS2, PSP, etc. because I can't afford them. I do have friends who own them in which I tried the systems out (what can I say, I have rich friends...who do share their toys with me).
Yes, I am a proud owner of "Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within" DVD and one of these days owner of "Final Fantasy: Advent Children" DVD. Woot! Woot!

No because if they did that I would quit using computers. Square went down hill since the merged with Enix. I think every game they released after FF9 was crap. FF11 what was that. I wasted alot of time on that game. I used to like FF now I can't stand it.I wished square would release FF10 & FF12 & FF13 on the PC platform. Granted, they have an exclusive deal with Sony and PS. Not trying to start a flame just making my first post in 2 months count.

no they dont have an exclusive deal with Sony, that expired a couple years ago. theyre fully 3rd party now.
however it probably would take some more effort to make 10 & 12, and especially 13, PC compatible, simply cuz the engines are far more complex than 7 and 8. the 7 and 8 were ported to PC by a 3rd party company, which IIRC went under soon after doing 8 (hence no 9 for PC).
11 was desinged as a MMORPG, so its in a separate class anyway. as a very good MMORPG IMO (they dont do crazy crap like some of the others do, they put a lot of effort into making that work well). it also came out before the Squaresoft-Enix merger. in fact FF12 will be the first actual Square Enix Final Fantasy (well, tecnically, X-2 is but that doesnt count)
