irrEdit Error at start up.

Hey, well maybe this has already been posted or something, but i didn't find anything, so here is what happens:

I downloaded irrEdit, wow that program could just make my life easier, anyway, when i run it it prompts an error windows:

"Problem initializing the engine. For this Editor version, you need Direct3d 8 or 9 installed on your PC"

Well, i thought my DX9 was screwed but i tested some games and irrlicht itself, and even Windows XP comes with DX8.1 so i wa slike, ehmm yeah sure irrEdit.

Any feedback?, suggestions? happened this? should i ask Nico?
