The crap part is that it affects multiboot, and Linux starts to have errors during booting... Does anyone know how I can erase that piece of s**t info off my hdd (I ALREADY tried format /mbr, lost all my partitions, bnut the bugger still remained).
SafeCast boot sector problem...

Ok, I had a copy of 3dsMAX6 trial on my hdd, and it features SafeCast, an "utility" that writes trial info on your boot sector (to prevent you from doing the reinstall windows trick
).

if you need to fix your boot and master boot record (no matter the consequences) then boot with your winxp cd, choose the repair option, if it asks for an admin password simply hit enter overriding it. Once in dos, type:
fixboot (enter)
fixmbr (enter)
and reboot
this should totally re-write your boot sector. It's what I had to do when I had to clean my linux drive when I needed space and it was te only thing that got me back to a usable windows drive. (from dual boot with linus to single boot XP only)

ah! sorry, I didn't know you wanted to totally format your drive (tho you mentioned it). I thought you had already installed winxp after formating and still had the problem.
yup, if you want a deep format Jam is right. Best way is to get specific designed tools for such task from your HD's manufacturer's site.
