I am new to Irrlicht. What is the best supported format: 3ds, obj, x, md2, bsp, dae, etc. I want to use a format which hopefully supports animations and which can be exported from an open-source 3d editor like blender. Which mesh format do most Irrlicht users find the most versatile and useful?

For static meshes I use .dmf format.
This is created with Deled ( www.delgine.com) that also has a lightmapper included and some additional options.
But you should do a search on the forum, because this has been discussed before a lot of times.
Cheers!
