3ds animations

Post by Yhoko »

Since the .3ds doesn't support animations how can you achieve animations made in 3ds max? Is there any other format Irrlicht would accept?

We wouldn't want to use another 3d program (anim8or, milkshape, whatever) since our designers are working with 3ds max.

There are exporters or scripts for X and md2 formats for 3DS MAX.

I tested it and it works fine for me. Except that you can't scale the models. However for me the animations are more important, hope I can get this to work.

You can scale your .x models using milkshape 3D. Or you could use irrlichts mesh manipulator when you load the model and multiply its size with it - it will resize the bone structure for you too :)

Does that mean that I can use bone animations and directly export them into .x files?
