Cant get Q3 maps to load...

i'm trying to get a q3 map to load... well, im not sure if its loading or not.. but it wont show... what are the do's and dont's for making maps? like, no entity's? what about lights? do those count? I've tried all that i can think of... I set the x y z's of the camera and all that...
