Applying texture to mesh question.

Post by As-12 »

Hi Everyone.
Im a noob of course .So I got a noobie questions.

I wonder about Normal Map again. This time. I'd like to apply normal map to the SDK's tutorial popular Quake 3 Map (20kdm.pak) .
But The problem is Im still a new programmer and I cant figure that How I can apply my normal textures to Q3 Map because I studied the PerPixel Lighting tutorial and it only apply single Normal textures to entire Map.
So I dont know How to apply seperate normal textures to Q3 Map.
I dont think Q3 Map will use only a single normal texture.
In shortly "How can I apply lots of texture in seprate position in the same mesh? "
Sry for My English . I hope you guys understand my problems.

You can't do that in irrlicht. You have to use a 3D modelling program such as 3DS Max or Blender.

I dont have any experience about 3D Modeling Program but I think
I will try to make my map seperate. It's like If I made a cube. And I want to apply difference normal + parallax mapping (Height Map) in difference side of the cube. So my idea is I will make 2 mesh. The first one contain same texture and I will apply same normal Map and another I will apply another texture and anothre normal map. My English is not good :( but It will look like this
[ = side of CUBE ] = another side
So if I make [ mesh and ] mesh with difference texture.
I load my mesh and put it to correct position I will get [ ] a cube .
And then I apply normal height texture to [ and ] with difference one.
I will able to make difference height texture in a same map with multiple mesh.
I think that this idea isn't good but I am trying to think another.
So Im asking for you guys suggestions.
And last thing. I dont have 3D MAX and other 3D Modeling program.
Do you guys know a freeware or something that cost less for 3D Program?

Blender is free and has large community too.
And it can do most of the things commercial 3d software does.

Anyway, a better idea is to make a cube in Blender (or other 3d software) and set UV maps. Then you can have different textures on one file.
