Now, when holidays have been begun i started redesing for whole thing.
Most of things ive done in hurry were pretty messy and uneffective, so i started redesingin and now Rewrote everything (expect the character class, its fine and works). The most thing that i wanted to rewrite was Netcode. I really made it more complicated than i should have made and in the end it dint even work so pretty.

But now, im having little problem. Somehow when Enet (Irrnetlite) recivies the variable, it is corrupted. And sniffing the packet says the UDP header is broken. It is really weird and i am thinking the problem isnt in my code anymore as i've tried everything :/ So i'm going to be stuck until i figure out what causes this and hope BlindSide shows up in MSN sometime so he could check it out too.

Just to keep you update, now.

Excellent work Cloudef those latest screen shots look very professional indeed. While I appreciate that Irrlicht can make a very effective 2D rendering platform too, what elements of the 3D functionality are you planning to use to enhance your game?

I do also find myself wanting to recode things, especially after I have left them for a long time. Sometimes it is worth it particularly if it is escaped prototype and testing code :) but personally I find that it can cause real difficulties in extending the timescales out as modules are revisited and refined.

Thanks, for 3d elements i'm going to do the fake 3d effect aka scrolling backround you see in most of 2d games. As for real 3d effects im gonna use water drops on screen and objects for some magic effects. There is game called Final Fantasy Tactics A2 for DS which shows perfectly how 2d and 3d can mix up, the effects at least. =)

Im still currently stuck with the networking :/

New stuff about irrMaple =)
The networking follows the principles of Quake World system, Valve Source Engine (Not that detailed tho) system and also this.

Update,

Mainly smoothing the movement =)

I think i start implenting scripting system tomorrow. What scripting lang do you guys prefer? Lua or Angels Script? Or something else perhaps? I was first thinking implenting Lua, but friend told about Angels Script and it looks good. I'm going to make Menus fully scripted for several reasons (Not just customabilty, it makes program flow better too) And implenting it earlier will save my frustation

<3 your project so much cant wait to play it myself.
I'm always drawn to 2d mmos and this could become really awesome :D
Did you already decide on an artstyle?
(Not sure if I got it but youre going to replace the riped maple spirtes arent you :o?)

Thanks, as for artstyle not yet decided. And yes i will replace them, but i allow the conversion* of the MapleStory media for personal use.
I use the Maple Story media as it seems pretty effecinent way how they handle the images. I don't like the network protocol tho, and the Maple Story seems to be little too limited scripting wise and lacks lot of gameplay element and makes the game in the end just a another Grind fest mmo. When the client and server is done and if i have enough resources, time and money, this will be Free to Play MMO with cash shop otherwise i release everything Open Source.
*You need to be able to extract the data of MapleStory on your own and then run trought converssion utilty to create more effective data files for the Client

My dream artstyle would be "The World Ends With You" style, it's just that i am not very good artist.

Anyways need to stop dreaming and focus on the code xD

XD Well Squeenix art is always awesome.
Dont worry too much once you got that running you wont be able to escape all the artist starving to apear in the credits of your project in order to get a bit of ego boost ;) [I'm one too I know it :D].
Hmm sounds quite plausible you could just use stick figures ( in the case above doesnt happen) and sooooooome anonymous person miiiiiiiight theeeeoreticaly upload a zip with spriterips from a certain game on rapidshare so people theoretically could replace them *nodnod* evil piracy :p

Hmmm dunno about the cash shop personally i hate it.I rather pay a monthly fee instead of seeing 10year old **")§/)=§)=§ using their mom's credit card to enlarge their internet penis.
Imho (which is really humbly since I cant even imagine the trouble making a mmo) I would go for a fashion only shop (and people will pay for it ;)).
Equipment on one layer and fashion items on another. It used to be like that in an 2d mmo i played for a fairly short time, which name I dont remember ^^```.

The thing with Cash Shop i have planned (God planning something like this so early >_<) is that it only has gimmick items. I really want to make epic game exprience for gamers so they feel unique in the game and not just like player in the group of others. This includes unique items that can be only be obtainable once or rarely. Enemies that also has certain condititions. Scripted events that actually do something instead of lots of text in screen. This also means lots of content, so that only certain players get certian quests and things so that everything will be different. You can party with friends tho =) I've been also planning somekind of freedom so you can also be evil if you feel like it.

Thinking about awesome stuff that will come true in ages is what keeps you working ;) dreaming about how great it will be,is even better then the feeling you will achieve...So no need to relativize your staement.

Sounds really awesome except for the stuff only certain players will get.
Frankly in my expirience that means alot of reastarting, even if the items are useless if you see people running around with stuff you dont have you will restart, and grind and w/e ^^```yeah i guess I'm a fashion whore in mmo too

I would really like the comunity aspect.I remeber the best time in any MMO was FFXI where you couldn't do anything without a group, which created an awesone comunity feeling)especially when trying to play with the absolutely awesome japanese players.
On the other hand it meant alot organisation and waiting for a group >____<``)

Scripted events are always good.In a game with 2d graphics you dont expect it, so when it happens its really amazing, without stupid bloom and shaders and whatever so go for it :D
On the other hands any event will push the hardware.

Recently i was working on the boss of the game ,mk1 and me are creating. I really wanted transformation sequences and all the single frame graphics add up....alot....really alot, so hope you get a good designer who can transport the feeling with standard graphics
( I whish i could do it like in cave story 1.7MB and the game feels so alive :( )
