Do you think future releases of Irrlicht should support Blender's .blend format with all the cool features?

I wish Irrlicht could support Blender's native format(.blend). It supports animations, and offers more features than any other format I know. I find it a nuisance to download the different python scripts, and then trying to debug them afterwards. Since blender is open-source, it seems like a great, license-free alternative to other model formats from 3dmax etc. I personally think that the .blend format would really extend Irrlicht's capabilities as well as allow the programmer to use only a single, compact editor.

Someday I read blend format is more a dump than anyother thing, and make a useful converter from .blend, has its issues, for a game engine....but dont quote me on that...

Just give Luke a chance...is making a great b3d plugin working for both scenery and character animation, which freaking rocks for irrlicht, imo. This way, you allow other package artists to benefit from it: Maya, max people, Lightwave people can also export as B3d...Lightmap maker, Deled, Slimshady, can export to b3d....So the idea is frikin' cool, imo...

For what you want, I guess a direct bridge, a plugin that grabs the stuff from the same Ui as an script, would be the way, but once again, what Luke is doing is actually this, just allowing other kind of artists to develope for irrlicht using their tools...Blender is cool, but there are more tools...
Finally making games again!

Full Ack Vermeer. The idea is good, but... blend format is -as you said- specific and pretty complicated. Well if there is someone out there who writes his programs like i write my letters it would surely work out. But i met such a person only once in my life ( it was a 19 year old portuguese girl, wow!) Yes, she was also quite pretty, even more amazing. But lets admit it, thats not normal -err, average.

I would not like the thought of someone more or less wasting his precious lifetime on this. But if its easy for this person  , why not. On the other hand, collada is on the rise, and b3d is also an excellent file format. For me personally i think i am too lazy for this anyway  .
