Post by harukiblue »

this link points to the instructions for loading Quake 4 files, I was thingking we could incorperate this into irrlicht that way we could mess with some next gen files.

I will be looking into this but if anyone else was already in the process or maby wanted to help, I think we should maby get together on it.

You should start with one of the mesh loaders from Irrlicht. Usually the basic things are pretty easy to implement. When you have something up and running post it in the code snippets forum and you'll probably get some help soon.

Might this be a good time to try and shoo the elephant out of the room? I mean that Irrlicht conflates mesh loaders and file-specific mesh objects. It really is a horrid kludge, and copying-and-pasting yet another mesh object in there is just going to make it harder to unpick later.

That said, I'm not volunteering to do it. ;)

In the off chance someone has the desire to add an MD5 loader to Irrlicht, elander posted some links with info and some basic reference source code over >>>here<<<
