I'm trying to use the QERadiant editor to make quake 3 levels for use in Irrlicht, but i can't get it to work. Do you need the game to make the editor work? If not, how do i get it to work. If so, what are any other good editors that don't need the game to work and can create pk3's. Thanks

As I was told, yes. Radiant uses textures and stuff form the .pak files. But I never used it myself, so better don't rely on this
Cheers.

I think Quark (QUake ARmy Knife), doesn't care about the textures, as long as you have a source of them somewhere.. DOn't quote me on that though. it has been a long time since I used quark for anything..
Yup. Radiant does need the pak files, to run. but you don't have to use the textures in them for you map, actually I don't think you can unless the map is being designed for Quake3...unless you want some men in black knocking on your door (and I don't mean MIB agent J or K
