ws2_32.lib

Post by monkeycracks »

Anyone know where I can find that? I've searched google and MSDN and it doesn't come with the platform sdk (then again neither did any of the windows header files or anything).

Any pointers?/

What is that lib for?

If it's for winsock then it should be ws2_32.lib

Yeah mate, the one you want is ws2_32.lib

theres no such thing as ws2_s32.lib as far as im aware.

All you gotta do is #pragma comment(lib, "ws2_32.lib")

but im not sure if this works on dev-cpp :P . Just find the project settings or something and stick it in with additional dependencies.

Cheers

In that case it should be included with the compiler.

I wouldn't have expected it with the compiler as that's the kind of thing the Platform SDK is for.

Also, note that Express is missing the optimising compiler IIRC. I made a dll and lib from the latest SVN for monkeycracks, so at least he has an optimised dll to use (I have the "full" version of VS2005).

how much of a performance diff does the optimisation make?? i have both the express and academic versions of VS2005, and I use the express cuz i like the interface better. but i'd be willing to switch to full at least for release mode compiles if the optimisation was worth it....
