octtree mesh + light mapping

Post by Midnight »

well my experience with irredit is not bad but not good either.

mostly because you can't have a light mapped octtree enhanced level mesh.. why not? is this just not finished?

how can you do this is it possible?

I want lightmaps but I also want to use simple octtree culling. when i tried to lightmap an octtree mesh it gave an error and models seem to effect it as well like the farie model.

not only does this stuff cause errors but it sometimes makes irredit hang and a pain to shutdown even by m$ error standards.

just thought of something.. could I make it static then turn it into an oct tree in the code?

I'll try that when I have a moment. seems like the proper way though.

still does nothing for lightmapped models but I guess shadows would have a better effect.

I've been waiting for an answer to this myself. OctTree meshes was the first thing I tried with irrEdit, and when I seen that lightmapping didn't effect the mesh, I was sorely disappointed. I figured this must be for terrains or something, and that it was only I who had a mis-understanding of octTree meshes...

Could someone please elaborate on this?
