Anyone know what this does? I use dev-cpp and it sometimes automatically links to it, producing a gmon.out file which when opened in Notepad is just a bunch of random characters/squares.

EDIT : I'm on Windows XP Home.

Anyone know what it is/does/how to get rid of it?

gmon is usually profiler output. So I guess if you turn of profiling you won't get the linkage and output.
