Open source: Pre-rendered, 3D projects?

Open source: Pre-rendered, 3D projects?

are there any open source projects that mimics the prerendered with 3D actor interacting with the background. ie. Final Fantasy, Resident Evil

or even something like Alone in the Dark.

However, i've looked at the open source of AITD, its not very intuititive. I'm looking for a more solid project with better documentation?

I'm sure this thing can be done in irrlicht, but would like to look for any current projects that employ prerendered background with 3D objects interacting with background.

It's not open source, but Wintermute is free and does that. It doesn't use Irrlicht, though.
