i want to find a tool

is there a tool convert the format .max to .3ds?(no through 3d max)

the other question:i found the link that irrlicht worked with ode can't link!
can anyone help me?

.max is the program's own propriatory format, so you won't find any tool which won't require at least Max already installed on your computer.

Short answer: sorry, no.

but if its only a couple of files, i could convert them for you if you want, as I use 3DS Max myself.

as for your second question:
could you be a bit more specific?
